439103 2006-03-18 11:26:00 Hi

I have a ATi Radeon 9800SE.For the past two weeks my phillip monitor broke down and because my graphic card had video output I used the Tv as a replacement for my monitor while it goes back for repair.

My monitor arrived.Phillip sent me a replacement.I plugged the Vga cable into the back of the computer and monitor.Screw it tight and turn the computer on.The monitor said no video input?I tried 2 other vga cable .Same thing.

I remembered the windows xp settings that if Tv is not detected the monitor would be the one displayed.I went into settings and according to Catalyst Ati it didnt detect the montior

I plugged the monitor onto another laptop the monitor worked fine.I pulled the graphics card out and used my integrated video card on the computer it worked fine.

I tried to put a different card an Ati Radeon 9250 AGP.I slide it in and the white thing clip the graphic card in place but when i wiggle the graphic card it wobbles quite a bit and I thought that it wasn't secure however no matter how hard i pushed the graphic card into the agp slot it seems as though its the tightest it can be.
It seems as though the Vga Plug from the video card isn't close enough to the edge of the case of the pc and i seem to have to shove the cable into the case.

Im just confused if there is something wrong with the Agp slot or the graphics card?

Both graphics card snap into place by a white clip that locks it but if i use my finger to wobble it it i quite shaky.Im pretty sure if the card is tight it shouldn't wobble.

Any idea what is wrong?

If the graphic card had something wrong then surely Tv output wouldn't work.Maybe something wrong with the agp slot?Do you guys think so?

It's very frustrating using integrated card.I can't play any games!

Ahh so puzzled.Please help!

439105 2006-03-18 20:17:00 This is just a guess but if the screen outputs are not working on 2 cards, then I would say it is pointing to a slot, specially if the screen works on a laptop.

Best thing would be to try the card in another PC if possible, then that will rule out if it is the card or the slot.

My PCI-E card is firmly in, NO wobbling

439106 2006-03-19 05:12:00 But the Tv output of the graphics card works.

So maybe the agp slot? But then if its the agp slot the tv output wouldn't work?

If its the graphics card then the tv output wouldn't work?

O..Something is wrong!

439107 2006-03-19 05:43:00 I think the problem could be that you have the TV set as the primary display and the VGA output disabled... you will need to go into the video control panel and enable it... if the slot or the card wasn't working im pretty sure you wouldn't get TV at all. Agent_24 (57)
439108 2006-03-19 06:27:00 Where is the Video control panel? Ninjabear (2948)
439109 2006-03-19 08:46:00 Right click on desktop -> properties -> settings tab (and if you have both TV and monitor plugged in) you should get 2 desktops, just enable the one which is your monitor, then change it to the primary display.

Should work if the card is detecting your monitor.

439110 2006-03-19 09:47:00 While the graphics card was in and I plugged the tv and monitor and boot into windows

Catalyst Ati only detected I had tv display only and I have done what you said earlier however I still couldn't switch to the monitor. It didn't detect that a monitor existed
