438954 2006-03-18 00:16:00 Hi, I have just bought a monitor (second hand) and everything on the bottom of the screen is slightly larger than the top of the screen. What causes this and is there any way of fixing it?

Thanks,
Sparq

438955 2006-03-18 03:52:00 The Trapezoid setting on the buttons on the front? Try playing around with them... pctek (84)
438956 2006-03-18 03:56:00 No, it's larger meaning, when something from the top of the screen is dragged down to the bottom, it is taller than it was up the top. The Trapezoid settings are fine.

Thanks,
Sparq

438957 2006-03-18 04:43:00 That is either top-stretch or bottom cramp, depending on which section looks right. Look for a vertical linearity control that illustrates that type of distortion.

If the menu doesn't have it, then there may be an internal adjustment, or worst case, a fault.

Did you not check it before buying?

Cheers

438958 2006-03-18 06:58:00 There aren't any visible controls, so it's probably a fault. That's really annoying, as the person who sold it to me said it was in very good condition :annoyed:
I couldn't check it before I bought it, as the seller had already packaged it.

It's an AOC Monitor, and the Model No. is 7F

Why?
As far as I can see that would only help if you have access to service manuals that would tell you if and where there is a vertical linearity pre-set pot.

It would be quicker to remove the case and look, and see if adjustment makes any significant improvement. This is a job generally, for a technician/monitor repair man.

Take it back and get a refund, the seller misrepresented the condition of the goods. Having it prepackaged suggests that they knew it was crook.
