439695 2006-03-21 10:10:00 I have a question about the xbox 360 is it as powerful and as fast as some of the computers you see in the shops some people say it is some say it isnt, im looking for a proper answer from genuine people not clowns. Hitech (9024)
439696 2006-03-21 10:24:00 Games Consoles are 'static' hardware meaning that they are obsolete after design. They may have then been as quick and as powerful on paper, but certainly never currently! SolMiester (139)
439697 2006-03-21 10:35:00 You would need to spend a good 3 grand to get a comp that could run games as well as an Xbox360.

They are a match for the high end video cards you can buy for PC's, at less cost then just the video card. Of course they cant do anything else a PC can do, but its a good cheap otion for a nice bit of gaming hardware.

The downside is that unless you have a high-definition TV then you will only see half of the visual goodness it pumps out.A HD TV will cost you anywhere from 2 to 10 grand.

When I get around to buying a new TV I will probally get an Xbox 360 thrown in the bundle, Just a pity that I haven't yet found a console game that gave me 1/100th of what a good PC game delivers.

439698 2006-03-21 10:38:00 Consoles have the advantage of heavily optimised software, so it is hard to gauge how well they will actually perform. For the first 6 months to 1 year, they might actually keep up with a high end PC.

The demands keep going up for a mid range gaming PC, and the price goes up with the demands.
