2006-03-20 20:23:00 | I don't know if it is just me, but I am sure that my jetstream is a lot slower over the last few days. I am on the full speed 10 gig xtra plan and I have noticed that evrything is slow loading, even on different computers connected to my small home network. The NZ sites are just as slow as the international ones. Here are the results of a test but don't mean much to me. Are the speeds acceptable? I live in a good coonection area only a couple of ks away from the main central phone exchange. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 1640 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 1013 kB) Download Speed is:: 200 kB/s Tested From:: http://testmy.net (main) Test Time:: 2006/03/20 - 12:15pm Bottom Line:: 29X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 5.12 sec Tested from a 1013 kB file and took 5.062 seconds to complete Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 44.24 % faster than the average for host (co.nz) Validation Link:: testmy.net

2006-03-20 20:42:00 | Again, see other threads on this topic, the server you tested speed with is in the US. Quote: "This is a 100% free site and you can test as much as you need to. testmy.net is able to bring you some of the most accurate results due to our centrally located US server on the UUnet / Global Crossing backbone." So the download speed from there you are getting in NZ is therefore the sort of speed to be expected.

2006-03-20 20:45:00 | What is the topology of your network? How many workstations are currently connected? Do you use Wireless? If so, is it encripted, or can anyone just log in? What other programs do you have running on the network that could use bandwidth? (VPN, and download programs will slaughter Bandwidth)

2006-03-20 23:06:00 | How can you call 1.6Mbps download speed from the US to New Zealand slow, when you are on a 2 Mbps Xtra plan ?????? | Terry Porritt (14) | |

2006-03-21 08:43:00 | Interesting......Im on a "1Mb/s Download Speed" plan (not with Telecom) and using the Xtra test you guys use I get a much better result: Your line speed is approximately 90280.9 Kbps or 11063.8 K bytes/sec Results Below is the data used to calculate your download speed: * Download time: 0.047 seconds * Size of file: 520 Kilobytes * Estimated line speed: 90280.9 (kilobits/second) * Estimated line speed: 11063.8 (kilobytes/second) Cheers KiwiMR2
