| 439273 | 2006-03-19 22:09:00 | i'd return it cause norton is NOT a good antivirus system at all........I have had several jobs of late where the person has had norton 2006 on the system yet had viruses. Norton was sayin 'no viruses' but looking into the system showed me there certainly were viruses and then I'd install say AVG, (FREE antivirus program) and that would pick up and remove the nasties that norton claimed were not there.........now, just for your info AVG is TOTALLY trustworthy and I haev other means of identifying that the viruses did infact exist.......so I've never been a fan of norton as I've seen most versions of norton miss viruses...not a good purchase.........also if you want to slow your system down installing norton is a damn good way to do it...... | drcspy (146) | ||
| 439274 | 2006-03-19 23:09:00 | I'll second that drcspy. I've had a few clients bring in their machines cause they were having problems. They were running NAV 2006 so I ran LiveUpdate to get the latest updates then ran a full system scan and they found nothing. I then removed NAV 2006 and installed NOD32 trial, updated and ran full system scan again and NOD32 found and removed anywhere from 5 to 10 viruses on the different machines. These were viruses / trojans not just adware / spyware, which NAV is not very good at detecting / removing either. |

| 439275 | 2006-03-19 23:29:00 | oh ype on all the jobs i've done the norton was up-to-date in fact one was a job where the client had tried to install NIS 2006 and had some failure.....it took a loooonnnnng phone call to norton, (india lol), and a couple of emails from them with complicated instructions and attached files to run to remove it then I reinstalled it and updated it then left the client to it...a couple of days later he rang to say the system was running slow as, (it had been fine when I left), and the cpu was runnign at 100%.......ah thinks I, a virus ! yes definitely......a brand new install ...uptodate and already a virus lol........crap program... | drcspy (146) | ||
