| 439179 | 2006-03-19 05:23:00 | Trying to get an older Win 98 computer connected to the net. Have installed a replacement modem with appropriate driver. System tells me it is working OK but when setting up through Connection Wizard I get message 'Windows can not detect a modem'. Any ideas anyone? David |

Try going to Control Panel - Modems, see if the modem is there on an appropriate com port, then run Diagnostics to see if it working. If so, then go to Network, and manually install the dial up adapter and the TCP/IP protocoll etc, do it all manually. |
