439169 2006-03-20 01:32:00 Tried my 6600GT in my other computer but I couldn't install the driver (too old - no support for GF6 series) and windows 98SE didn't like it either.

So I tried another AGP card in this computer, which resulted in the same problems.

I think the AGP driver or something to do with DMA isn't working properly, but I'm not sure why/what or how to fix this.

439170 2006-03-20 01:43:00 you have a reply in the other forum, let us know how you get on Rob99 (151)
439171 2006-03-20 05:57:00 The other forum isn't very helpful, they insist I have a problem with my remote desktop (which I have never used) :(

I just temporarily hooked another hdd up and installed windows, worked perfectly, all hardware acceleration everything.

so it must be a software/driver problem (probably stupid windows)

could it be a DirectX problem? I have heard that you can reinstall directX with some tools... is this possible? does it work?? should I try??

439172 2006-03-20 09:00:00 What about the motherboard drivers? Have you tried to reinstall/update those? Jen (38)
439173 2006-03-20 10:29:00 Only about 10 times.... :stare:

I also gave sfc /scannow a go but it didn't do anything either

Looks like it's fast approaching the point where I'll have to just reinstall - unless it magically starts working soon :(

439174 2006-03-20 11:57:00 My guess is you have either fried your card by clocking it or there is a bios mailfunction either on the card or your mobo.

439175 2006-03-20 15:33:00 I noticed you said Powerstrip allows you to overclock your VideoCard - perhaps you sent too much through it and fried something...I don't know but that is why I am very weary about overclocking my system... TiJay (6055)
439176 2006-03-21 00:30:00 About the only thing overclocked I ever did with this card was find out what the optimal overclock would be (never overclocked though, the stock cooler is too crappy) - and that was a long time ago.

Anyway, as I said - I did a fresh install of windows on a seperate harddrive and the card worked perfectly with all AGP texture acceleration and everything enabled and working.

I can't see how there would be anything wrong with the card, It has to be a software problem (I just have no idea what) :(

439177 2006-03-21 01:05:00 Well . . . I tried re-installing directX with "DirectX Happy Uninstall"

Now I'm stuck with DX 8 . 1 and I can't install 9 . 0c again

Looks like I shall indeed be re-installing windows :yuck:

I can't see how there would be anything wrong with the card, It has to be a software problem (I just have no idea what) :(If your keen, use drive cleaner to remove your Nvidia drivers then follow the instructions here www.5starsupport.com afterwards you will need to install all your drivers and updates again.
