439413 2006-03-20 22:59:00 You know the annoying thing about PBTech is they advertise most prices without GST, and include a 2% cash discount. It's not $975, but actually $1,119. It borders on misleading advertising.

I'd say for the price, it's pretty hard to beat. For $50 more, there's this Toshiba Satellite L20 Notebook, Celeron M 360, 1.4GHz, 256MB DDR2, 40GB, 15" TFT, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, WLAN, WinXP Home

Almost the same, except Toshiba vs HP, Intel vs AMD, plus the Toshiba has WLAN.

After dealing with Ascent and PBTech, I haven't had a negative experience with either, but my gut instinct is Ascent is a little more respectable.

439414 2006-03-21 07:35:00 I'd also trust ascent more than PB, both are among the top computer only retailers, but Ascent is larger, offers a wider range of parts, has better warrentees, and has a far better website.

PB offers some warrentee, but it's advantage is that it is cheaper than Ascent (once you work in the +2% for not paying in cash).
