2006-03-23 13:28:00 | My mouse is suddenly stop working in games and some download programs like lime wire and bear share. So i reaplaced my mouse twice and currently got a microsoft intelli explorer 4.0a. The problem is still presisting and i have tried formating 3 times installing different versions of windows xp. tried 4 new mouse drivers as well as the latest video card drivers. To me its like a software problem but, my USB has been acting up laterly, so im guessing it maybe a motherboard problem, but if it was wouldnt it be acting up all the time including windows. I just want to know wat you guys think about it and if you could give me some pointers. Becasue the my next move is to by a new motherboard.

But as you mentioned limeware & bearshare, I hope you have a good firewall & anti-virus protection? Such sites are a good source of nasties, which can affect performance of even a mouse. Have you done any checks for viruses & trojans? And do you know how to post a HijackThis log? Post back with more information before doing something as drastic as buying a new motherboard. |

2006-03-28 13:52:00 | Yea i tried a virus program that came with windows but im not sure if it works properly. I also havent heard of HijackThis log. I am kinda new at these forums so i might need some advise. Is there any where i could get a good virus program off the internet? Even if its just a trial version. SO i could try see if its a virus thats causing the problems. | macca360 (10054) | |
2006-03-28 19:31:00 | Try a couple of the free online antivirus scans: Housecall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/) Panda (www.pandasoftware.com) McAfee (us.mcafee.com) AVG is a good free antivirus program you can download and install. Avast! is another one. Do not run two different Antivirus programs at the same time, and make sure you keep them up to date with downloading new definitions for them. If you suspect your current Antivirus is not working, then you really should be avoiding high-risk activities like file sharing as they can infect your machine with a heap of rubbish. Have you tried a PS/2 mouse in the computer if you are suspecting USB problems? What do you mean by your "USB is acting up"?

2006-03-31 02:39:00 | The usb is acting up because when i put other usb items such as a cable to my phone i keeps connecting then disconnecting and i cant transfer information across. I will try download one of those anti virus programs. thanks jen for the advice. And yes i also have tried ps 2 port it also doesnt work almost the exact same problem. So im thinking it has to be some thing with mother board like software/hardware or a virus. | macca360 (10054) | |
