440162 2006-03-23 16:35:00 Get TWEAKUI ( . microsoft . com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys . mspx" target="_blank">www . microsoft . com) for fun . . . it includes a lot of enhancements that you'll like .

IMHO, I set the following stuff up in my systems:

I really like Picassa II ( . google . com/) . . . a great photo processor and folder-maker . . . it uses HELLO (http://www . hello . com/" target="_blank">picasa . google . com/) . . . a great photo processor and folder-maker . . . it uses HELLO (http:) by Picassa and has a blogger and can send pixs via most any format you want using your e-mailer or whatever .

I use Gmail, Google Desktop Search, GTalk and FireFox (just get the whole Mozilla Suite ( . mozilla . org/products/mozilla1 . x/" target="_blank">www . mozilla . org)) . . . . stay away from Internet Explorer like the plague .

Delete Windows Messenger .

Install a good firewall (Windows Defender is pretty good) and remember that you can use only one software type, and one hardware type; I use AVG Free, Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware (not Adware!), SpywareBlaster and Belarc Adviser, CrapCleaner, Hijackthis, MBSA (Microsoft's Baseline Security Adviser) . Make sure that when you click on anything that it IS what you want and not some clone of it . There are a lot of look-alikes out there that want you to be fooled into adding them to your system and cause you all sorts of havoc . I also run SITEADVISER (http://www . siteadvisor . com/), which is a FireFox extension for assistance in browsing .

Keep your updates and HotFixes all up to date . . . . . ya gotta have SP-2 . . . not an option!

Stay away from Bonzi Buddy, The Weatherbug, anything porn, be ye very aware of most Yahoo stuff, AOL is a system sucker and burrows deep into the bowels of your machine and McAfee, Norton (Symantec) is really a poor anti-anything . . . not that they don't work, they just also suck the life outta your system . . . . .
