439784 2006-03-22 01:17:00 I have a laptop (lets call it Alphie), and I use alphie to login to my office domain (lets call that Boring), and get my romaing profile. I now also have to be able to login to a second domain (lets call that Crazy) with an independant profile.

I thought this would be easy, seeing as alphie was already a member of boring, I just joined alphie to crazy and was able to login with my crazy profile(s). But when I did this alphie lost membership to boring, and would not login to the boring domain.

Does anyone know if there a way to setup a computer so it can be a member of two seperate domains at the same time? These domains are in different organisations that are in now way linked to each other.

I would have thought it was a possible thing, Why else would you have a drop down list for selecting your dominan at the login screen?

Anyway, many thanks in advance to anyone who replys.

439788 2006-03-22 22:27:00 I believe you cannot do this, unless you use third party software.

The dropdown menu lets you select between logging into a domain or logging into the workstation only.

439789 2006-03-22 22:47:00 [Delete - I misread the post, so what I said was irrelevant. You were probably already aware that you could have multiple domains in the drop-down list, but you are wanting to connect to several at once which I don't know about.] somebody (208)

You don't know the name of a peice of 3rd party software that can let me do this do you?

It seems odd to use a dropdown list if you can only have two selections (although this IS ms we are talking about) :o

439791 2006-03-22 22:55:00 You can have more than 2 selections to choose from (some PCs I work with have up to 4 different domains), but you can't connect to more than one at a time. somebody (208)
439792 2006-03-22 23:24:00 It can be done, but I don't know how. There are some computers here which can log into 4 different domains + the local machine, via that drop down list on the login prompt.

I can't be of any actual help though because I don't know how to do it myself. Also, lots thanks somebody.. I wonder if all the domains were from within the same organisation though.. the more I've thought about it the more I can see the possibilty for *not* letting you join two *completely* independat domains.

Just to clarify: When at the office I want to be able to login and get my boring profile from the Boring domain . Then when at the second location I want to login with a seperate username to the Crazy domain, and get my Crazy profile .

I don't want either my boring or crazy profiles to be allowed access to stuff on the other domain or anything like that . .

I've been doing a litte bit of background reading, and it may be that the only way to do this is to get one of the domains to "trust" the other one . . . but seeing as they are on different networks, and won't talk to each other I have no idea how that would work .

Thanks again for replies people .
