439996 2006-04-03 20:16:00 ok. ...so i ran that cpu tool like you guys said (www.cpuid.com (www.cpuid.com)). and here's what it showed.

so does that mean the processor really is a measly .5 ghz (the core speed i assume)?

www.geocities.com

if so, i guess the fair market value is prolly pretty low!

439997 2006-04-04 07:29:00 Looking at the CPU information, it appears your laptop is underclocked. The processor speed should be multiplier x FSB.

In your case it is showing your AMD 2800+ CPU as:
4x 133 MHz = 532 MHz processor

From some quick reading, the XP-M allows a variable multiplier to underclock the CPU to conserve power. I am not sure why it is stuck on 4x. If you cranked up the laptop with some demanding process to get a high CPU usage (eg, full virus scan), then I wonder if you ran the CPUID program during that, would it show a higher multiplier?

Playing with multipliers etc is not really my thing, so hopefully someone with more experience in this area could comment further on your situation. :)
