| 440074 | 2006-03-23 05:32:00 | Everything except the 2 realtek audio things were already disabled & the realtek things are only there because I updated the driver. I'll try defragging it & see if that makes a difference. If all that fails, I might have to reinstall windows. It'll be a clean install rather than use the image provided by Sony in case it is all their crap that is causing problems. |

| 440075 | 2006-03-23 05:36:00 | I'm not sure what is needed to ensure that a swap file is defragmented. At least do it in Safe Mode. But I have an idea that you have to delete it and make a new swap file after the defrag. I'm sure someone knows. ;) | Graham L (2) | ||

| 440077 | 2006-03-23 12:31:00 | simply reload WinXP and you should be sweet. It's good idea to reload XP when you get secondhand computer. Repairing the software will take more time & it's not gauranteed to make the laptop faster. After ReInstalling WindowsXP install only good programs. I can recommend some. 1- ADAWARE (anti spy-adware) 2- CCleaner (frees up your hard drive by deleting your web browsing history & more) 3- Picasa (great photo manager & emailer) ALL THESE PROGRAMS ARE FREE & TAKE SMALL AMOUNT OF SPACE. Let me know if you need 'ny help. |

| 440079 | 2006-03-24 22:33:00 | I reinstalled windows & it is going like a champ now. The pentium M processors are sweet - her laptop now kicks the ass of my 2000+ and my PIV 2Ghz. She said that a friend of hers had already reinstalled windows. They must have ghosted it from the restore partition. I'm shocked that the default image is so crap. |
