440324 2006-03-24 05:12:00 It makes files, graphics, streaming media and that sort of thing a lot faster to download, eg 10-30 seconds instead of a couple of minutes. Pages themselves don't open very much faster on most websites for 2 mbps compared to 256 bps but the graphics load a lot quicker.

It is a good thing though so enjoy it when you get it.

440325 2006-03-24 05:13:00 I know it is faster but HOW FASTER?

When you’re on 256K you get around about 32KB/s but when you go to 2M you will get around about 200+ KB/s

440326 2006-03-24 05:17:00 Stange because I was with Telstra and on a 2Mb line speed already and I am not in a big city either. They have always bee able to offer what Telecom have been offering on the Jetstart/Jetstream line (not UBS).

I swapped because I got sick of the pathetic 10GB data cap and am now with IHug with a 80GB data cap.

440329 2006-03-24 11:12:00 Telstraclear has always offered (since 2004 at least) Telecom's UBS as part of their services. And they're changing their prices just like other ISPs (such as Orcon, WorldxChange) have now.

Their prices aren't much better than Telecom XTRA's. The plans are the same except they're $1 cheaper per month.

I don't get it, they're offering the same limited service as Xtra, they've complained to the Commerce Commission about slow UBS speeds? So shouldn't they be offering better services than Xtra in terms of ADSL?

440330 2006-03-24 11:32:00 Seeing that page is out of date, given my email this morning, no wonder you don't get it. wotz (335)
