440284 2006-03-24 03:21:00 Microsoft supplied me with an XP Home SP2 update CD. When I got it, I ran this once to update my system. Is it safe to run it again in order to correct any corrupted or missing files?

Thanks.

440285 2006-03-24 03:30:00 Yes, but there have been many security updates since the SP2 CD was released. That will require a large update again.

Using Windows System File Checker (SFC) would be better.

Start - Run - SFC /scannow - enter

Note there must be a space between "SFC" and "/scannow"

Out of interest, if I reinstall SP2, will that nuke the security updates i've dld since I installed SP2 the first time?

440289 2006-03-24 05:22:00 Can you still get Microsoft to mail out a CD full of updates? Greven (91)
440290 2006-03-24 05:27:00 Why not give them an 0800 call and ask. Not sure of the number - should be on their NZ site. braindead (1685)
