440259 2006-03-24 02:04:00 my taskbar/addy bar etc have changed to the 'boring' colours I prefer the 'standard' windoze colour scheme...

yes I've tried to set the system/performance/visual effects to 'adjust for best appearance' as they always have been and indeed the setting is currently on that but it's just not working. The video card is fine, (fx5200 128mb) as tested on another machine. Cant understand what's happend.....tried system restore a few days also but no change it's changed on both versions of xp which I haev installed on this machine. So it's 'global' ..

Does anyone haev any idea's ? I doubt another vid card will do it as this one works well on a different machine . Could it be the mobo is playing up ? Asus P4s800 with P4 2.4Ghz and 512mb twinmos ddr pc3200. Hmmm.....maybe I'll update the bios and see what happens

440264 2006-03-24 02:17:00 You sure your not set on the Windows Classic Theme?

Go to Control Panel > Display > Themes tab and change it from Windows Classic to Windows XP.

440265 2006-03-24 04:00:00 Looks like the 'Windows XP Style' theme files have been corrupted, changed or removed.

I'm not sure if the default Windows XP Style theme can be downloaded from anywhere, however you can download the new theme created by Microsoft which is the default on Windows XP Media Center Edition.

This is what the theme looks like (click). (www.3dvelocity.com(1)_fi les/image009.jpg)

To do this, first download this file (download.microsoft.com), 1.69MB.
Then follow the instructions on this site (www.windowsitpro.com). (Remember that you've already downloaded the theme's file)

Alternatively, you can download something like XPize (http://xpero.msfn.org/) .
