440478 2006-03-25 22:49:00 Checked capacitators and they all seem to be ok, but its hard to tell.
Looked for telltale signs of bulging, and crystalisation (or ooze) around top and bottom,
but they all looked ok.
Very informative site that, Gibler.

I will just return box to him and suggest he gets a pro to check it out or try replace motherboard.

Thanks for all your help ppls.

440479 2006-03-31 08:47:00 Just an update to let you ppls who helped know the result.I thougth it was the motherboard, but....

He took it to E-one in Manukau, and turns out the CPU was stuffed.

They replaced it and apparently works now.

440480 2006-03-31 14:41:00 Was there something else as well?
Otherwise, why didn't it work when you tried it with your spare PSU?

It was the processor that was bad, not the power supply unit...

I was going to suggest the CPU as I have had a dead one before with exactly those symptoms but you need to have a suitable spare one to try, of course. It is also not terribly common for the CPU to just die on you, fortunately.

Glad to hear it was sorted and thanks for letting us know.
