BTW - my vaccuum solder-sucker was totally useless when removing the old caps . I found that by gently and alternately applying left-hand and right-hand pressure on the caps while applying a dry hot soldering iron tip to the leads (solder side of board) I was able to work the cap out painlessly . I ground down one of those small all-metal screwdriver tips and used it as a hole cleaner, again while heating the remaining solder . Worked like a charm . Good light, good magnification, good earthing and a fine-tipped hot soldering iron worked for me . |
