440344 2006-03-24 06:20:00 When opening a folder in documents, it opens with the address, for example, C:\Documents and settings\peter of the hill\data etc.... I don't know where the peter of the hill came from originally, but is there a way of deleting it, or changing it to a shorter name of one word? Am running XP pro. Tick1 (6970)

Hi Tick1, the only time i have ever encountered this was when the "name of the account" had been changed via the control panel, user accounts. Its and xp thing - the difference between the "name of the account" and the actual "account name".

MS KBase Article here (support.microsoft.com)

But as you say you don't know where the 'Peter of the Hill" name came from?? Could somebody else have changed the "name of the account" at some stage?? Another thought is if you are the only user and it logs straight into that account, which perhaps has that name?

lol, Jen seems to think its the same too

440347 2006-03-26 08:12:00 Many thanks Jen and all, Now working OK. I have had trouble with XP pro and have had to have the drives completely wiped three times (no viruses) so think the name must have been loaded at the computer repairers. XP has behaved over the last six months -- so, fingers crossed! Tick1 (6970)
