440858 2006-03-26 08:31:00 um..not really a question question..read on if u bother

i burn my stuff onto dvd to free up my hdd
i used:
princo 8x dvd-r burnt with liteon drive using nero
data verification completely successfully
disc seems all good and did a Nero CD-DVD Speed test and got a nice line
did tests with kprobe and gave nice results
was rather pleased with the the princo media

now..a few weeks later..
burnt another dvd today
thought the folder i put my discs in were a bit full..actually too full
so got myself a new cd folder thingy and start moving some discs over so the old folders don't look so fat
now..this must be the first time where good media failed me..
not because of bad write or bad media..but because of bad storage..
the folders were too full and um..somehow the discs sitting in the last few pockets of the folder got pushed and got bent
so they end up with concave or convex shape to them
took a while to figur out..cause can't see the bend just by looking at it

couldn't figur out what was going on
i do data verification everytime i burn dvds..and they were successful
and tried the disc before putting it away anyway..
but suer is obvious when put onto a flat table and press down on it

now the 4 sad bent dvds are being pressed flat under a pile of heavy books
and er..hopefully gets flat so the drive can spin it and read it properly

so..yea.. all the warning about don't store where there's sunlight and all is important..but never thought this could happen just by putting them in a overcroweded cd folder
maybe something to watch out for next time when cd folders get fat

ooh..might as well ask a question..
anyone got same experience? or are these discs er..made with plastic that's too soft..um..
and .. any other suggestions to flatten these discs?? kinda do need data off them

440859 2006-03-26 15:13:00 I read somewhere of someone putting the warped dvds at the bottom of cd 100 spindle that was packed with blanks and leaving them for a week. He said it worked.

Or perhaps stick 'em on a desk under a very heavy book for a while.
