Im not sure how much power ive got, as there is no sticker on the back of the PC, which I'm told should be there in watts. Instead it just says "AC 230V". And surely the graphics card wont be under too much pressure within a game like football manager, where its predominately text graphics, and where i'd imagine almost all of the work goes into processing RAM stuff.

If one of the RAM sticks is faulty, will i need to throw it away, or is there a way of fixing it?

Also, surely if the RAM wasnt fitted properly, the PC wouldnt pick it up? Because my PC does show that im using 1GIG of RAM.

440713 2006-03-27 15:34:00 also, when i take the mem out, do i just reboot normally? fent (9751)
440714 2006-03-27 18:03:00 ok, so i took one of the sticks out, and now the game seems to be functioning fine again. The stick must have been faulty. Only thing is, ive now only got 512 ram :groan: So, the pc runs a bit slower. Will i need to buy a new 512 stick, or can this be fixed? Also, if i do buy a new stick, how do i make sure it aint faulty? fent (9751)
440715 2006-03-27 19:16:00 Just to be sure, swap the sticks over and only have the suspected bad RAM stick in . See if the problem still occurs .

The RAM would be covered under warranty still, so they have to replace it . You sometimes get fautly RAM, which may come with the fault or develop it after some months . Just bad luck you got a faulty stick . RAM cannot be repaired .

440717 2006-03-27 22:24:00 The thing with memory and games really does'nt boil down to the stick being faulty. You will probably find that it is of a different brand, ie one may be TwinMos and the other Infineon. That is a no-no with games. What you need to do is buy another stick that has exactly the same part # on the module. Better still get rid of both 512's and buy a single gig stick...This is the best option and stop's the possibility of your still having an issue even with 2 of exactly the same type..It does happen with some games. cjongreen (7128)
440718 2006-03-27 22:41:00 If they are different sticks, probably have different timings. Or both sticks work okay by themselves, you could try different slots. Is it an AMD dual channel system?. With my motherboard, I had to swap slots in order to get stability even with a paired dual channel 1Gb kit. SolMiester (139)

this could very well have been the prob, as theyre 2 totaly different sticks.

Im contemplating getting one 1gb corsair stick, £60 on ebay. Although, ive heard i shouldnt really buy off ebay??

440720 2006-03-28 02:23:00 ok...shock horror, its crashed again! Playing a game that isnt graphically demanding, its crashing back to the desktop. Its doing this with both RAM sticks individually fitted - which surey means its not a RAM problem? Havent got a clue what to do then! fent (9751)
