441035 2006-03-26 23:51:00 Hi All.

I have newly installed Windows 98se from cd. Now how do I get Internet Explorer and Outlook Express?

441036 2006-03-27 00:19:00 Forget IE and OE and get Firefox and Thunderbird KiwiTT_NZ (233)
441037 2006-03-27 00:31:00 Try here for a stack of updates for Win98SE, and the second link for IE 6 SP1, I think OE is included with IE.

441038 2006-03-27 01:09:00 go find a magizine disk like the ones pc world have, they often have the later IE and OE on it. personally i wouldn't use either but some other programs require you to have certain vers of IE installed before they will install :( tweak'e (69)
441039 2006-03-27 04:00:00 Both are on the CD that you used for W98se. Did you do a custom install? Peter H (220)

Cough, cough, splutter...yes indeed, but look how old those versions are.

441041 2006-03-27 07:34:00 Thanks for the responses.

I have downloaded Firefox and didn't get my settings transferred from IE when I installed it! How to do this now? I uninstalled FF but there was no transferring option on reinstalling. I wonder whether FF would have transferred the settings from a slaved hdd anyway?

I am on dialup and Clear is my ISP

441042 2006-03-27 08:26:00 In Firefox if you click on File, there is an option to import settings including passwords, favorites etc from IE Terry Porritt (14)
441043 2006-03-27 08:30:00 To TP. Yes, I agree, but do you assume that new versions are better? I have updated IE to 5.5, but I can assure you, that unlike XP, I do not need to download a zillion fixs to even connect to the net. Also, nothing wrong with OE 5. Read a few reviews about Nortons, and you will find that every new version is worse. Same with many programmes. Peter H (220)
441044 2006-03-27 08:45:00 Windows 9x is probably so old now that all the worms have died out. Your system is inconpadible with everything - even malware :p Greven (91)
