| 440693 | 2006-03-25 21:39:00 | A friends slow PC, running Win XP with 125Mb RAM, slow as a wet week. Anyway, after running Spybot & Adaware Ive run Hijack this. Now while I appreciate your viewing and commenting on the file below, can you please explain what sort of things I should be looking for to determine the PCs state of health. | 440695 | 2006-03-25 22:12:00 | One reason would be the amount of ram he's/she's got. 128mb is not enough for XP. Get more, it might speed things up. Or lose the colours in XP (which may help), but I would still get 512+ MB of ram for XP. If you paste your log here (www.hijackthis.de) If it shows any nasty entries, do a search in Google (www.google.com) or Yahoo (http:) on the entry with nasty beside it. This will usually tell u whether its spyware / a trojan etc, in which case, u would tick the entry in HJT. Some entries may not be nasty (as in spyware etc), they maybe memory hogs, and take up a bit of ram, just running on startup. In which case, the entry should be ticked in HJT. And running Nortons firewall on 128mb is NOT a good idea. That'll be one reason why things are slow. This entry isnt needed in startup. Run it manually. Tick it in HJT and tick fix checked.
