440701 2006-03-25 19:06:00 Ok, I have a very big problem when playing Football Manager 2006 . . . It keeps crashing, constantly . I cant get through a game without it just crashing back to the desktop . It never used to do this, and always ran perfectly . i had installed some new memory and a geforce 6600 graphics card a while back (2-3 months) - and ever since then my pc's been a bit dodgy(crashing to blue screen and dumping physical memory etc) . However, it only crashed every once in a while, and as long as i saved regularly, it wasnt much of a problem . Now its doing it every 2-3 minutes . I cant get much done at all!

It just says that the game has encountered a serious problem and has to cloe . And then generates an error report ( . dll) in the FM folder .

Can anybody help me???

440702 2006-03-25 19:28:00 i forgot to say that there are also .dmp files generated within the fm 2006 folder. Dont know if this helps with the diagnosing of whats going wrong. :help: fent (9751)
440703 2006-03-25 19:42:00 Can you take out the extra memory you added, and then see if it still happens? Does it only crash in your game, or with other general non-gaming or other non-graphic intensive applications? Jen (38)
440704 2006-03-25 23:22:00 im not too sure how to take the ram stick out .

440705 2006-03-26 02:20:00 You said you installed the RAM? Uninstall it. Its easy, pull down the clips either side holding it in and lift it out. pctek (84)
440706 2006-03-26 03:20:00 well, my uncle installed the RAM stick.

So in terms of removing the newer stick, i dont know which one was which! :groan:

440707 2006-03-26 03:31:00 It's highly likely that you have faulty memory. Download a copy of the appropriate package (for floppy or CD) of Memtest86 (www.memtest86.com), make a floppy (or CD) and boot from it. Graham L (2)

Hey, ive got memtest, but the only time ive tried to use it, i wasnt sure what i was looking for? I know it indicates errors - but its not like it says "you have a busted memory" - it just has numebers etc and im not too hot with PC stuff!

Also - the memory was brand new and a high quality stick when i purchased it from a leading PC store, so whys it faulty?

440709 2006-03-26 04:23:00 My guess is that although the memory and vid card are probably fine, they're not seated/fitted completely right. Probably a good idea to get your uncle to come round and double check his work. Greg (193)
440710 2006-03-26 04:59:00 It would beep if not seated properly.
Take them out one at a time and run your game, thus eliminating which one is faulty.
