441671 2006-03-30 21:16:00 I would suggest a 6800gs 256mb/256bit and another 1 gig of ram. :)

6800gs beats a 9800pro easy,and has SM3.0.

Having 256mb on board memory on a graphics card helps out on modern games.

Having 2 gigs of ram is good not only for games but everything runs so much better as well.

And if you say you dont need 2 gigs of ram, then try playing BF2 on less and you will see that you do need it!!!

Check out www.pricespy.co.nz for computer component prices.

Oh and if you wanted to you could go for a 7800gs,best agp card at the moment. :D

That should keep you gaming on that rig for a while longer.

Then if you wanted to upgrade later wait for AM2 to get going and go for that.

Dont go 939 as the AM2 socket is taking its place on the 06/06/06!!!! :D

Trouble is Memphis, that his AGP card wont go into any AM2 platform. So, 939 will be his last AGP upgrade.

441673 2006-03-30 22:11:00 Yeah I know I have a Nforce 3,3500A64,6800 o/c to utra,2gigs of ram,audigy 2zs.

I am going to either upgrade to a 7800gs,4000A64 or a dual core,or a opteron.

Or wait for AM2.Maybe do both. :D

Thing is pci e is the future and agp users either have to try and make their systems last longer and go pci e at a later date or change over when they can afford a new mb,gpu, cpu.etc

So for agp users its cheaper to max out what they have if its ok to begin with that is.

Getting more ram and a graphic card is cheaper then having to get a new mb,cpu, gpu and the hassle of starting all over again with windows and reloading programes, games, etc.

Oh and then you also have the issue of DX 10 cards coming out for windows longhorn/vesta.Which will be pci e.

Life not easy ah!!! :)

441674 2006-03-31 05:33:00 Real Time Strategy
TBS is Turn Based Strategy

? sorry but the answer means as little to me as the question it seems....

beetle :waughh:
I'll try epxplain it a bit more. Strategy games usually give you a top down view of a map, and you manage building stuff, creating units and giving them orders.

In real time strategy games like Command and Conquer, Everything keeps going - time doesn't stop to wait for you to give out an order. Time in the game is a lot faster than real time, but is always relative to real time.

Turn based strategy games are more for micro-management - time stops at the beginning of each player's move, and gives them the chance to make all the decisions they need to & make sure everything is the way they want it before they let the next player have their turn.
