441182 2006-03-28 07:54:00 IDE Configuration

IDE Controller[both]
Primary IDE Master[Quantum fireball lct2]
Primary IDE Slave[not installed]
Secondary IDE Master[DVD......]
Secondary IDE Slave[CRD........]

Does this look right?Or is it something else?
Cheers

If nothing is on Primary IDE slave change it to NONE. Other than that, that setup looks right to me.

I doubt autorun has anything to do with it. Try changing the IDE cable, and put an 80 cable IDE cable in (a cable with a blue connector, at one end. The blue end plugs into the motherboard connector).

Also, make sure the red / blue line which goes along one side of the IDE cable is connected to pin 1 at both ends.

If u can, put it on DMA, if its on PIO, it'll be slow as.

441186 2006-03-28 08:46:00 When i open the tray of either the DVD,or the CD rom units,everything on the screen freeze's up,except the mouse arrow.....arghhh!! :help: rogsv8 (8994)
441187 2006-03-28 09:10:00 Actually,an update to the "freezing up",it only happens when i'm in "my computer" and i open one of the trays,if i'm not in "my computer" theres no freezing up on the screen,Damn things still don't work though. rogsv8 (8994)
441188 2006-03-28 09:52:00 sounds like a windows problem rather than a hardware problem. Have you set it to use DMA? (You enable DMA in device manager on the IDE channel, not the actual drive). I don't think that will help your current problem, but it is something that has to be done Greven (91)
