| 441684 | 2006-03-29 09:09:00 | Hi, Im using Windows XP, RAM 624DDR, Router Dynalink RTA220. ADSL 256Kbps download speed. I am using Azureus p2p program and it works fine. But everytime after i close the Azureus program i cant access any more webpages. ( i have set the upload/download speeds according to some websites. so i can browse sometiems but its very slow--thats fine) I am guessing the Azureus connects to the p2p servers and lots of computers when downloading/uploading so it takes time for it close all the ports (something like that..hehe) before i can browse again properly. I do check on dos using "netstat" command to see how many ports are still open. They do take a while by the time all of the ports are closed. But my problem is even after all the ports are closed i cannot access any of the webpages. I have tried to turn the router ON/OFF even then it i cant browse any webpages. I can only browse webpages after restarting the computer. Just want to know y is that and how can i fix it?? Thanks a lott... |

| 441685 | 2006-03-29 10:49:00 | I guess you are using XP SP2? May be due to the TCP/IP connection number (10). I had similar problem, but it's gone after updating to a SP2 compatible BT client and firewall. |

Anyway back to the question, can you ping www.google.co.nz when you have the problem, if that fails try ping 66.249.89.104 - second part will verify you can get to the internet, first part checks to make sure DNS (domain name services) is working. |

| 441687 | 2006-03-29 11:12:00 | I have had similar problems also, with a Dynalink RTA 1335. Im not sure what it is but I think it has something to do with the cache in the router. Here are some things to try. Check first Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services. Make sure DHCP Client & DNS Client are on Automatic and Started. On your computer icon in the system tray. Right click>repair. If this is not successful. Try disable then re enable and repair again. And the ultimate solution reboot the router. Let us know how you get on. I have a suspicion Dynalink routers are not the best for P2P. I had none of this aggro with my old Dick Smith Router. Ian |

Ian I have checked in the services and both of DHCP and DNS are in Automatic and Started mode. But not sure how to repair them. i have also looked into their properties but i could not find anything with "REPAIR" Or do u mean just stop and start both the services? |

Another path is right click My Network Places on your Desktop>properties>Local Area Connection>repair. Im using the Azureus bit client. But every1 always uploads from me though pressf1.pcworld.co.nz I use eMule P2P. It is probably the hardest to set up and requires port forwarding from your router but once its working its great. If you try it. READ the HELP PAGES from start to finish, every thing you need to know is there. Dont expect to start it up and everything is rosy. eMule has default ports that are probably blocked by your ISP, but you dont have to use them, choose your own. You can even change them every time you start up as long as you do the same in your router.pressf1.pcworld.co.nz Forgot to mention . Ports have to be forwarded in your firewall also. Ian |
