441895 2006-03-30 02:43:00 Has anybody had any trouble with . . .

Dlink DSL 504g modems .

We had one stop working a couple of weeks ago . The lights were all on, but no internet .

The tech guy came, checked it out, decided it was bad . It got replaced, no worries .

Three days after getting the new one, same thing . One minute, it is sweet, the next it's not .

The lights are all on, no internet . The 10 . 1 . 1 . 1 page says it's connected, but no internet .

It's so frustrating, almost elbow dropped it .

It happening the second time got me to wondering if maybe it was something to do with my computer . It's a Mac running 10 . 1 . 5 using Xtra broadband .

Anybody with ideas or suggestions .

441896 2006-03-30 02:46:00 These are the free modems Xtra give yes, I have a few friends who have had issues with them. They dont talk to Telecom Radius Server either. Cheap equipment I reckon.

Are you losing the connection to the modem or actually losing the connection between modem and internet.

441897 2006-03-30 03:08:00 I can get into the Xtra setup pages on the modem, so the connection with the modem is there . It just doesn't go any further .

When you click a link the port light flashes once, but no more . On a working one it flashes the whole time something is downloading .

441898 2006-03-30 03:18:00 I had a problem with one I got. Turned out to be a simple issue of the ethernet cable having a dodgy connection to the socket in the back of the computer. Replaced it with a cable of my own and presto - works like a charm.

The problem was intermittent. So, try exerting a bit of finger pressure on the connection and see if that helps.

441899 2006-03-30 03:26:00 Yeah, tried everything along those lines. Jiggled cables, reset computer & modem. No dice. posse (10097)

Three days after getting the new one, same thing . One minute, it is sweet, the next it's not . Well, try again . Maybe the two duds in that production batch got to you . ;) Or maybe the wind blowing your phone line onto the 33kV power line doesn't do modems any good .

441901 2006-03-30 03:42:00 It probably is 2 bad ones, but it just seemed like too much of a coincidence. I thought it must have something to do with what I'm doing.

Third time lucky maybe.

The poster stated connection to modem fine, therefore nothing to do with the ethernet cable!.

PS: I have the Gainward 6600GT AGP, you could talk me into selling!?

441903 2006-03-30 04:19:00 Have you tried upgrading the modem's firmware or drivers? Mada (248)
441904 2006-03-30 04:22:00 Dont think you can do that, Xtra have there own firmware flashed on them.

I tried with the manufacturers rom and turned mine into a brick!!!.....LOL
