| 441760 | 2006-03-29 11:19:00 | Hi I downloaded Zone Alarm 6.1.737 to instal as a free firewall but when I double click the file the message appears: "Validation failed for C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\VSINIT.DLL. You probably are missing a necessary root certificate." I am a total novice to windows and PC operation, having spent all my time on the Mac. I'm in this to learn, this site has been recommended, can anyone please help? Cheers Paul |

| 441765 | 2006-03-29 22:37:00 | Be careful, if u install 6.1.744.001 of ZA, and NOD32. After I installed 001 of ZA, it broke my net connection, on this computer, and broke the net connection, and constantly crashed ZA (having NOD32 installed), and went round in a continuous loop. On the other computer here. NOD32 also kept on shutting ZA down (and crashing it - vsmon.exe). (This may have been an option in NOD32). Everytime I rebooted the other computer here. I also disabled the internet scanning option of NOD, but my net connection was still broken. Until I uninstalled / removed NOD32. |

| 441767 | 2006-03-30 00:32:00 | It stopped too many times, I got sick of it stopping and restarting (the services), all the time . So, tried AVG, (a while ago), it played up too many times . And I cant be bothered getting it again on 56k . Tried ZA (which is installed atm) . Tried NOD32, it didnt like ZA lol . Tried TrendMicro, it kept on cutting us off the net, so that got the bullet . I didnt have a firewall or an AV 2 weeks ago, (it was fine, I still have trojan remover, and Xoftspy installed), but since 3 PC's are on this network, (there were only 2 before), I thought it maybe better to get a firewall, coz the other person is into P2P . . . And if his system screws up again, (it was full of 250+ files relating to spyware etc), I wont be reinstalling Xp on it again . And it wont be on this network . |

| 441768 | 2006-03-30 01:32:00 | I have used zonealarm for years, and never encountered any problems with it. I have just updated to the most recent free version with no hiccups. I have turned of windows firewall, and only run an oldish version nortons. For years on a win98 machine I ran zonealarm without any virus scanners, relying on that and mailwasher to protect my system. I can't recall ever haviing more than a couple of viruses. |
