| 442671 | 2006-04-01 03:01:00 | I'm in the process of sorting out all my cds, and i've seen quite a few duplicates so far, and instead of continuing one by one as theres over 500docs and 1000 images, is there some sort of program that would enable me to use the program to find me the duplicates and enable me to remove them etc... i would continue this way but it'd be very time consuming!... Will be copying entire cds to a folder on computer and then eliminating that way then copying to a dvd...space saving and more organised :) |

| 442672 | 2006-04-01 04:05:00 | Hi Chris, somebody recommended this to me on PF1 a couple of years back, however i only recently got to try it on my mums system, as she had ended up with lots of duplicates of the same photos while learning to use her new camera/download pics ;). It will only do images, but is a really great free program - Dup Detector (www.prismaticsoftware.com) |

| 442673 | 2006-04-01 05:12:00 | MicroSoft has one for Windows...XP and possible 2000, I suppose.....called SynchToy (www.microsoft.com) .......whereby you generate two folders that Windows is supposed to compare and allow you to delete the offending files from either the left or the right folder when it's done it's indexing. I have it, but have never used it...yet! |

| 442675 | 2006-04-02 01:04:00 | There's a tool called Easy Clean which I picked off a recent Australian magazines CD or DVD. (Either APC or PCA). It finds too many ... including the backup files in \i386. :( I can't find a way to exclude directories. It does produce a nice .HTML page which is fairly clean so it won't be hard to edit . (I've got a lot of duplicates, and this file was only about 1.6MB.) A synchronising tool is unlikely to be useful for this. It's intended to help you get the directories the same, with "duplicated" files. |
