1400237 2015-05-07 08:55:00 These are popular and were known as very good SSD's but how things change

www.techspot.com

Wonder how many of the other SSD's will have problems crop up but it looks like just the TLC NAND of Samsung's

1400241 2015-05-07 22:41:00 Thanks for the headsup on this. My 16 mth old SSD 240 EVO definitely has the problem.

Now to upgrade the firmware!

1400243 2015-05-07 23:39:00 Seems I lucked out by being a cheapskate. My C: drive is a Samsung 830 Evo but when I bought more SSD's for other systems I went with Crucial because they were cheaper than the 840 series that was popular at the time. dugimodo (138)

1400245 2015-05-08 00:27:00 Much better performance after the update. Haven't got the large discrepancies in access time I had pre fix.

A test before gave avge access of 163MB/s and after, 459 MB/s.

1400246 2015-05-08 23:23:00 Installed the latest firmware some time back... no issues here, averaging 515MB/s.

Drive is nearly 2 years old... it's a Vanilla 840.
