| 1388452 | 2014-11-24 03:54:00 | If they can't come up with something solid after 40+ years I recon it's time to end their little RORT and publically flog the lot of them. So you think there is no use in long term studies or observations? I'm glad you'll never get anywhere near a position of power! |

Of course there is - but after 40 years, you'd expect a tad more understanding of how climate works (over a geological timescale) than is apparent in the current crop of so-called climate scientists. |

So you think it is perfectly OK to produce absolutely nothing of value in 40+ years whilst being generously remunerated by the taxpayer. :angry Types like you we dont need, so youre indeed lucky Im not in a position of power. |

It's a pretty complex issue, so I wouldn't expect them to learn everything on 40 years. Having said that, I think you'll find they've learned a lot and certainly know far more today than they did 40 years ago :) |

So they have hardly wasted their effort. I am indeed lucky; a person who only believes in science when it tells him what he wants to hear, a person who seemingly believes to be useful a science endeavor must be short term and produce more than knowledge, and a person who argues subjects poorly - a person like you in power would even make our current lot (referring to both those in power and opposition!) look good! |

| 1388459 | 2014-11-24 10:52:00 | Nobody says the Earth's climate doesn't change. Clearly it does and we are actually in a cool period at present so no matter what mankind does, the climate will change on a geological scale. What people are worried about is pollution of the biosphere caused by human activities. We are grabbing concentrated carbon which took 200 million years (give or take) to accumulate and releasing that carbon over 250 years. Its difficult to grasp how that could not have some effect on the world. In fact its counter-intuitive. There actually isn't much argument among the climatologists, most models and studies point to serious pollution effects. There are contrarians who disagree and that's fine - scientists are the ultimate critics. Findings should be challenged. The scientist James Lovelock proposed the Gaia hypothesis in the mid 1970s, saying that the Earth was a gigantic interconnected living organism. He was laughed at and ridiculed for 30 years (I thought he was nuts). Today he is a saint and is acknowledged as the pioneer in recognising all biological mechanisms are in delicate balance. CO2 dissolved in our oceans tips that balance. |

Now thats what I call climate change. However, the issue at hand is one of Global Warming and if the world temperature will rise between 0.3°C and 1.7°C over 100 years. Yes I know Global Warming has be renamed Climate Change by the Spin Doctors after Michael Manns little scam was busted, but the matter is still centered on Global Warming. Speaking of which, has anyone seen or heard any update on THIS (www.globalclimatescam.com) "Michael Mann faces Bankruptcy as his Courtroom Climate Capers Collapse". |

Interesting link too. Not sure on the accuracy of all the stories there, but worth a read to open the mind. |
