Try a factory reset on the Nexus 7.

1388580 2014-12-06 01:51:00 I got notification of a "software update" available for my Note 4 today - 100MBs update. It was for the phone itself, not an app. I installed it. It seemed to take ages (like about 5mins) to fully load after rebooting itself and installing the update but having done so, I don't see any difference? No function or appearance change. Was this the Lollipop update or some other do you think? When I go to settings > about device - it still says Android 4.4.4, which I'm pretty sure is KitKat and what I had when I got it.

How do you know if you have Lollipop or if it's just some other big software update?

Just did a web search. Looks like it's quite common on the 2012 versions of the Nexus 7 . Guess we will have to wait till 5.0.1 comes out in the next week or two..

Where you read "4.4.4" at the moment, it will read "5.0.x" if it's Lollipop.

I imagine that your new Note 4 just got a scheduled Samsung update... The Lollipop update is somewhat larger than 100MB - and Samsung won't be quick to upgrade their devices if past history is anything to go by.

Ah thanks so much johcar. :) Given some of the bad experiences I've learned of on this thread, I am in no hurry to for Lollipop! Phone works like a charm at the moment. :)

1388585 2014-12-06 04:41:00 I take it the white background with lolly is to be expected on my N5 ?

I preferred the black.

1388586 2015-01-16 01:45:00 Update, I guess they stopped the OTA release for nexus 7 2012 due to issues but I finally got it this morning. Version is 5.0.2. Performance is so so, did a factory reset and that improved things. On the plus side it fixed the rock radio stations app which would not stream on the tablet under kitkat.

The white background is part of the google now launcher available as an option from the play store, if your device didn't come with lollipop it will not change the existing launcher with the update so it'll still look pretty much the same unless you go and install it manually. I did and well, it's white...

Bit of a let down, really doesn't seem to have improved anything. The 2012 nexus 7 is starting to feel a bit sluggish these days compared to newer devices. Mine is relegated to bedside alarm clock duty in it's dock most of the time.
