| 1399972 | 2015-05-17 06:03:00 | Hey Wainuitech if you have team viewer installed you can remote desktop me and you will see what the situation is . Makes life Easy . Cheers No real point in connecting Via TV -- Ive only done what you are currently doing once, I normally dont use that function. I often do Tasks relating to Deployment though. If you are getting problems, then heres the Video I mentioned before Its what I did, Its walks you through from installing to completion, This guy has lots of great Videos, and explains everything while doing it. www.youtube.com When doing the deployments, I had forgotten quite a bit as It had been a while since I set them up, but after watching his Video on the subject, jogged my memory, now I can fly through doing it. Its like a LOT of tasks, unless you are doing things all the time you forget some stages. One thing- Dont take any shortcuts, if you do its often the cause of failures. |

| 1399974 | 2015-05-17 09:03:00 | Hmmmm have to think ab bit about that. ( cant test anything as one of the servers has been reinstalled and working Via a Workgroup now, not Via a Domain) I assume Active Directory is working, and both servers are on the same Domain ? |

| 1399976 | 2015-05-17 09:54:00 | This may sound a bit harsh, but i don't know how you're expecting to learn if you're wanting someone to team viewer in and fix it for you. Fault finding is part of the process of learning. There is plenty of reading online for how MS stuff fits together. Google How DFS works and the first thing that comes up is a technet article on how it works. Google How to fault find DFS and yet another good technet article comes up. You need to understand the basics first before you get your head around that. If you don't understand how or what DNS is then you're not going to have much luck with Active Directory etc. If you're struggling you really need to talk to your lecturer. | Alex B (15479) | ||

Personally I've never used DFS because IIRC it doesn't support file locking between servers which would cause a real issue for us at work. |
