Here below a wealth distribution from the USA(2010). I haven't seen an NZ version though suspect that a number of our right wing politicians are quietly fancying something like the image below and can't wait for the day to arrive.

1388253 2014-11-20 21:39:00 Gary, the election was two months ago. Get over it, you lost. Thrashed. If it's that hard to take maybe you should leave commenting here and go to the Standard with others of your political persuasion. Describing other New Zealand voters as 'baloneys

' does nothing for your image as an informed Labour voter either. I had a lot of respect and admiration for you when you were caving in Nelson, so don't just become an embittered commenter here because your party lost the election. Life goes on, so make the most of it. Good luck.
That is easy to say when are not pained to the quick.

Misinformed as he is, probably due to an inferior complex, he is stuck with his thinking.

Labour will not get voted in.
National will only get voted out when or if they no longer have the trust of the people and unless or until NZ starts going backwards.
While we are doing well - why rock the boat?

But we already are ;)

1388256 2014-11-22 08:28:00 Just as some people think that a lotto ticket is a great investment, some think National is a great bet. The odds for a win are similar. ;) R2x1 (4628)

So what. Some people are rich, get over it. Jealously and envy .
Make a graph of the poorest countries wages & compare that to NZ wages. Same thing, we are stinking rich compared to most of the worlds population.

The ONLY alternative is some sort of communism, we all now just how well that works.

Not sure if you got it. It is not just black and white? Have you lived and worked in other places outside the NZ borders?
Of course you can compare us here with the worst places, if you need a feel good moment. Great way to compare :-)

1388259 2014-11-24 11:23:00 Well I have lived and worked in other places and I also have Kiwi friends who live overseas.

They yearn to come back.

On a material basis there are much wealthier countries to live in, no argument. Even Australia is better.

Nevertheless when you come to value a place which is uncrowded and benign, then New Zealand is the jewel of all countries. It isn't perfect but it is the best on the globe and a mere 4 million of us share it.

As I write I'm struggling to think of a single ugly place anywhere here. Every one of us can locate a peaceful beautiful spot ten minutes drive away.

That is all I was looking at in this thread. Material wealth.

1388261 2014-11-24 17:54:00 If it's material wealth you are after, you can't go past either Abu Dhabi or Hong Kong. The thing to be wary of is people who consider themselves poor but are in fact wealthy.
I was travelling in Hong Kong once and saw a woman on the street begging. She was dressed to look the part, but when I began to dig out my wallet, my associate at that time told me she actually owned the 3rd highest building in Hong Kong at that time.
Material wealth is not all it's cracked up to be, you cannot separate lifestyle wealth that we have in NZ from material wealth in order compare countries.
