I mean you ring your insurance company and tell them and they pay (minus the excess)

1400268 2015-05-10 03:26:00 So today i discovered that the source of my problem is when i strike keys particularly hard. Such as in fast typing. This explains why when i play games it doesnt freeze but does when i type because i hit the keys harder. This doesn't really change much but is confusing because I am not sure as to why a more violent key press would cause a freeze as opposed to a gentle one. katrinke1 (17364)

All very simple really :) First you have to understand how a keyboard actually works. Have a read of the following: www.explainthatstuff.com

What's possibly happening is when you hit a key harder its pushing it down further / More violently, thus causing a short circuit in the board below. This would indicate either corrosion or some other circuit related fault. This is also why when you plug in a external Keyboard you don't have the same problem.

Relating to the spillage -- I had a customers laptop a few years back, a Toshiba, real expensive one as well, keyboard was dead, when looking at it, it looked in perfect condition, so sent it back to Toshiba under warranty, a few days later they contacted me advising its not a Warranty repair due to liquid being spilled, they sent a picture of all the corrosion under the Keyboard --- Funny how the customer 'kind of forgot" to mention it had been through a spillage.

1400270 2015-05-10 16:29:00 Okay thanks that makes more sense. So let's say that it is for sure due to corrosion under the keyboard. How expensive roughly would that be to get someone to fix it? katrinke1 (17364)

It may not be the problem at all. it really needs to be dismantled & inspected.

Since its under warranty, I'd suggest do a claim and see what happens, if it is corrosion then you'll soon be told along with a price to fix, other wise if its not it may just be repaired free of charge.

1400273 2015-06-03 12:18:00 This problem can certainly be very annoying. Especially if you’re working on a major project on your computer, and you didn’t have time to save your work before it freezes. In just a second, I’m going to show you a quick solution you can use to stop computer from freezing.

The reason that your computer is probably freezing in the first place is because there are probably errors that are going on in your registry. You see, when you first got your computer, it was brand new. Your registry was clean with no errors.
