1400128 2015-05-06 00:42:00 My guess is you've installed something intentionally or not that is adding hyper-links to web pages. Check your browser add-ons or scan for malware. Are these coloured underlined words clickable? dugimodo (138)

I agree but Malware Bytes - Super AntiSpyware - and a clean-up with CCleaner hasn't resolved the matter.

And yes, the Blue underlined words take you to a variety of Adds.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

1400131 2015-05-06 01:11:00 looks like you still have malware or an add-on someplace , have a read of teh complete posts answers.microsoft.com <<- That IS a Link - 1st page anyway. wainuitech (129)
1400132 2015-05-06 04:07:00 Well the plot thickens.

Ok, I followed that link you provided Wainui and a few others but no luck. One chap did however recommend SpyBot to fix it, so off I went down memory lane and installed a brand new version, but no luck there. So now we have Malware Bytes, Super Antispyware, and Spybot that can’t find anything. :badpc:

Soooo, I had a bright idea and thought I’d open IE11 (that hasn’t been used for years) and bugger me it’s worse than Firefox. My intention was to uninstall firefox and then reinstall it.

And now “mystartsearch” has hijacked both browser search engines.

Hmmmm, there’s a point, I haven’t given Hijackthis a look yet, so I’ll post this and see what it says.

Just what I was going to suggest .
And the screamingly obvious - toolbars in the browser, dumb things listed in Add/Remove Program list

1400134 2015-05-06 05:52:00 Browser Hijacks - There will be add ons.

try running download/adwcleaner/ (www.bleepingcomputer.com) as well as www.surfright.nl

Theres a few doing the rounds that will put add-on in all installed browsers.

1400136 2015-05-06 06:19:00 Ok, well Hijackthis came up with two nasty’s, not recognised by the other programmes, so I dealt to them, restarted the computer and logged onto here and was just congratulating myself on fixing the problem when the whole thing turned to custard again.

This is a determined sod but reading up on it, using my laptop, it seems that a programme mystartsearch hijacks your browser and directs things to mystartsearch.com where all the adds are held.

So, you don’t actually have a zillion adds loaded onto your computer, you just get bombarded with them from mystartsearch.com

Further, it seems this hijack programme is cleverly hidden and missed by most scanning software.

Anyway, I’ll struggle on manfully and keep you up to date with progress, but a Silver Bullet would be nice, and a lead on for the pricks that think they are smart.

I'll follow up on that Wainui & Lawrence.
