| 1388350 | 2014-11-19 19:03:00 | How did the highly paid Executives do their budgeting in the first place? Story here (www.nzherald.co.nz) Any fellow on the street with some form of basic primary education can produce a job budget like this, if not better! The first thing strike my mind was, there must be some form of corruption along the line! Isn't a full enquiry necessary? If there isn't any form of corruption involved, how can we keep this bunch of incompetent public servants? Remember, they are managing we, rate payers' money, not their own, and they are PAID to do the jobs! |

After hearing on Monday from a lawyer who deals with the council that no one is accountable there from the elected officials to their underlings. This will be written off as a systems failure and the tea lady is to blame and the cost will just be added to the Auckland council bankruptcy claim.. | paulw (1826) | ||

They just seem to have no idea , keep changing the specs & requirements as systems are being developed and dont seem to be able to tell that a $800 PC should NOT cost $2000+ . They then decide to get custom one-off software, rather than use whats proven & in use elsewhere . |

They are getting blind pay; who is responsible? ..... corruption? ........ corruption? ...... |

| 1388355 | 2014-11-19 21:22:00 | "......$500 million previously budgeted for IT over the next 10 years." Thats an insane amount of money. They would be better off to BUY a major IT company instead . They all love overseas jaunts. Hop on a plane, go to Aus, US , & UK & look at their systems . Learn from other councils mistakes perhaps ? Take a year, find out EXACTLY whats required & stick to it. Dont keep changing the specs & requirements (as per that expensive Police IT debacle) |

| 1388356 | 2014-11-19 21:49:00 | "We're better off taking longer getting it right than doing it quicker and screwing it up." Lessons had been learned from other troubled IT projects, such as Novopay, Hmmm Time will tell. :illogical | wainuitech (129) | ||
| 1388357 | 2014-11-19 21:51:00 | It's such a pity that over the past 20 years there has been no publicity given to IT blow-outs of this type. (Wrong - I mean this year's bunch of IT experts has not read all that history!) We should be hearing that at least 10 expert IT advisors have been quietly removed from City Council payroll. Instead we'll probably be told that they have hired another half dozen wizkids to sort out the new systems. Of course Auckland City is so complex and so large that no other city in the whole world could have created an IT system to handle all of the basic accounting and administrative tasks. Never mind, just add another 40% on the rates, especially for those over 65 who are getting so much help from govt that they can afford to support a struggling, growing city. | coldot (6847) | ||
| 1388358 | 2014-11-19 22:42:00 | ...And then we have the same type of loons who are pushing for amalgamation of Wellington and Wellington Region including Hutt, Wainui, Wairarapa, and god knows where into one enormous super city, totally against the wishes of Joe public majority, on the basis of all the savings that will be made. | Terry Porritt (14) | ||
