443372 2006-04-03 06:26:00 I recently purchased a Logitech MX 600 cordless Laser mouse.
And while I really do like its weight, feel and responsiveness as well as the many function buttons (most of which I actually use) ...there is however one huge and annoying design flaw.
Specifically I'm referring to the fact that the mouse is programmed to go into sleep mode (presumably to preserve the battery) after just a few seconds of inactivity.
Moving the mouse or pressing the Left or Right button does in fact wake the mouse up.

However the Scroll wheel does not.

This might at first seem trivial, but my usual modus is to read text intensive documents with my Right hand resting on the mouse and operate the scroll wheel to navigate the document.
In my usual modus it really gets irritating to have to remember to either jog the mouse or press a key after each period of mouse inactivity in order to wake the rodent up!
I have searched the Logitech web site extensively for a solution since it seems to me such a glaringly obvious design flaw in the programing especially since all the other functions seem to be so well crafted, but sadly the sleep/wake function is not even mentioned as far as I can tell.
I do not think that the Mouse I have has a hardware defect since I did in fact make this point with the supplier of the Mouse and after he kindly replaced it, the replacement mouse behaves in exactly the same (perverse) manner.
I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and more to the point is there any way of working around this. :annoyed:
I run Windows XP Home SP2
My computer is:
AMD Dual core 64 3800+ A8N-SLI Motherboard
1 GB DDR RAM 200GB HDD
X800XL ATI Graphics card
Thanks for your advice and comments.
