2006-04-03 07:29:00 | Up until a couple of days ago we were having no problems with our Xtra connection, but then they appear to have implemented usage and speed upgrades to our plan (confirmed by checking the Usage meter and our Modem diagnostics) since then we have had constant problems with either pages not loading or loading very slowly or half loading and stopping. I have spoken to Xtra with not much luck at this stage tho they are very polite. I have uplugged and re-plugged everything and re-installed the modem (whatever that does) Any suggestions would be appreciated as to what to check next. tks George Ps (tried to do a Speed test but the gave up waiting for the page to load [:0)

2006-04-03 23:23:00 | Hi still having discussions with Telecom and have sent then a screen shot from the event log of the DLS modem: Concerned about recurring entries such as: Major Alarm: DLS Interface down Major Alarm: ATM Interface down Status Warning: ATM VC Down ...... Status Warning PPP Interface down .... And then status warnings showing it all coming back on again. I note at times the ADSL light on the modem goes out, when the computer is on and this morning when it was off. George

2006-04-04 02:48:00 | Interesting. I have been having the same problem for the past month. With Ihug, not xtra. I turn my computer on every morning between 4.30 and 5.00. I download e-mail and read it, but before I can reply my connection goes. My modem tells me it is connected. My internet connection tells me it's not. I click on connect and I'm on again. 5/10 minutes later same performance. This goes on for about an hour then everything is right for rest of the day. The queer part is it happens same time frame every day, except Sunday. Ihug tell me there's nothing wrong their end. It must be my phone line or my splitter or my modem. In other words they haven't got a clue.

2006-04-04 07:45:00 | Mine went "off the air" last night, just as I was downloading a file, just before 6pm - in the same part of the world as you, pctek. OK again this morning. :) | R.M. (561) | |
2006-04-04 08:41:00 | Hi, well no reply from Telecom but the connection now seems stable and this is confirmed by the Event Log for the modem. A question I have is that our plan was a 256kbps one and this is according to Telecom going to be increased to 3mbps. I note in the diagnostic section of the DSL config it says that our 'Downstream speed' is approx 2776kbps (did say about 270kbps a few days ago) but in a couple of calls to Telecom they say the new speed will not be implemented till the end of this months 'plan period'. A speed test done from 2 sources says we are downloading at about 280kbps so can someone make some sense out of this for me, tks George

2006-04-04 09:13:00 | I rebooted my router yesterday and it took over 10 minutes to get back on the air and thenthe dowload had dropped from 3170 to 3075 and upload dropped to 160kbs. I have only 13 error seconds over 24 hours. download attenuaton is 40 db which is not too good a line. Piva
