443131 2006-04-02 09:29:00 Hello all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, about 6 months old, and have just recently started having an issue with it coming out of sleep mode . When I push the power button to wake it up it tries to come to life but just hangs on a black screen (although the power indicator becomes solid) There is no activity on the hard disk according to that light though .

Running Windows XP Media Center edition .

I have a program (RC helicopter simulator program (programed in Java) that sometimes crashes and closes by itself if I change the landscapes too often but other wise things work well on my laptop . So could these issues be related?

Oh, and I already tried looking for Scan Disk utility but it appears that this is not part of windows software anymore?

443132 2006-04-02 10:16:00 So can you get it running by rebooting? ScanDisk is part of Norton Utilities not Windows native. Do you leave it in a cold room overnight? zqwerty (97)
443133 2006-04-02 10:29:00 Scandisk is what WinME/98 etc run. In WinXP it is called chkdsk. You can find this tool under My Computer and right clicking on the hard drive for properties and then under Tools. Think you can also find it under Accessories > System Tools.

Have you checked the Dell website for any patches for hibernation issues?

Does your laptop meet the hardware specifications for that game?

443135 2006-04-02 11:41:00 Thanks for the replys. I looked at Dell forums and found that it is a problem experienced by several other Inspiron 6000 users. Some remedys include turning off the wireless card before sending to sleep, Removing USB plugs, and of course the ultimate solution: system restore  Johnnz (7246)
