443939 2006-04-05 01:51:00 WinXP SP1, 2.4 Ghz, 512Mb ram [496Mb really with some off for graphics]
40Gb hard drive.

Laptop:
Intel[R] 82852/82855 GM/GME graphics controller
3S accelerator - Intel Extreme Graphics 2
1024 x 768 panel.

2nd Monitor:
17" CRT IBM model. Manufacture date 1999 [still goes great].
S3 Savage 4 Video adaptor
S3 Savage 4 3D adaptor
SR9 8MB SDRAM

Attaching IBM to Laptop. Will it use up any of my RAM?

Have decided to install more RAM to get 1Gb Ram, and it's annoying that I can't just put in another 2 x 256 of RAM as there is only 2 slots. But they'll probably be handy keep just in case anything happens to the new Ram.

Also have to get fan fixed. It goes but is sometimes noisy. Laptop is not overheating though. It may have something to do with the power though, as last week I smelt a burning smell and thought the end of my ciggie may have fell on the carpet but couldn't find anything. Now I'm beginning to think it came from the fan as it was after that, that the fan started having periods of being noisy.

Why would it take a computer place 4 days to repair a fan? I thought I could just book it in for a certain time and they could do it during the day. Don't want them snooping through my files either. Will probably save all my stuff to CD and wipe out everything off my computer before they get it. My family tree and astrology stuff holds too much personal information.

Found this site to disassemble my laptop. Looks pretty basic. If you click on the pictures it shows in red circles which screws to undo etc. Do you think I should open it to give it a clean out before taking it in to be looked at?
