443806 2006-04-04 13:10:00 Hi

I just formated my hard drive and installed a fresh XP Pro setup.
when i tried to install my audio drivers, it asked me to install atleast Service pack1. so i did and then i installed the drivers for my audio (Realtek High Defination Audio). after the installation it asked me to restart once i restarted and came back into windows...after 3-4 min it gave me this error. "EAccessViolation".

who does this happen?.

443807 2006-04-04 17:02:00 How far into the peripheral installs did you get b4 you got the SP-1? (I question that . . . I have SP-1 on the installation disc for XP-Pro . . . . . . . . . . . . late thought . . . I MIGHT have a later XP-Pro installation . . . . nevermind)

If it's late in the install, there are all sorts of ways to corrupt the OPSYS .

Always get the updates very quickly before too much is loaded . I go right to SP-2 from a CD-ROM I got from M$ (free) . . . . makes the rest of the fresh install a lot easier .

SP-2 rewrites almost the whole XP-opsys . . . it's long and complicated and almost as big as the XP instal in the first place . It's not too happy coming to the party late and most people who complain about SP-2 ruining their system are those who refuse to face the music and just get the thing early-on .

Understandably, it is long and might take youse guys over your cap to get it . . . . that's why I suggest getting it on the CD-ROM . Can you find someone in your neighborhood with a DSL connex at 4M? . . . . it helps .

Just drop in a NIC and use their DSL router to get it all . . . it'll even offer a physical firewall while you're getting the updates and security stuff turned on . I always bring burn-downs and re-installs to my place for the DSL-firewall-updates-security stuff .

A naked 'puter will die quickly when it hits the internet if you don't have it up to date .

443809 2006-04-05 02:36:00 Part one is OK:I just formated my hard drive and installed a fresh XP Pro setup.

I assume this is part two: when i tried to install my audio drivers, it asked me to install atleast Service pack1. so i did and

If this is part three, then it looks like you may have left some of the set up from the audio drivers in the system or it kicked in after the reboot :then i installed the drivers for my audio (Realtek High Defination Audio). after the installation it asked me to restart once i restarted and came back into windows...after 3-4 min it gave me this error. "EAccessViolation".

You installed XP, then the failed audio driver then SP-1A...right?

If it were me, I'd go back to square one and format, install XP, THEN SP2 and THEN the rest of the drivers. but that's just the way I am when I get outta sequence and mess things up.
