443676 2006-04-04 02:43:00 Have you tried connecting something else to it (like a cd or another hdd), and putting it on AUTO in the BIOS. To see if the BIOS detects it.

It maybe whatever was plugged into it thats stuffed. Or it maybe the IDE cable that was connected to the IDE port.

443677 2006-04-04 03:23:00 sure have. cd rom lights and even the hd when connected to it, come on - the hard drive spins and all. nothing in the bios though. moved the drives to the 1st ide port and surprise, surprise they work.
could it possibly be a problem in the bios?
It's a phoenix and i think that it's version 4. it's not the cables either.

443678 2006-04-04 05:50:00 You can try reseting the BIOS, remove the battery (there may or may not be a jumper you have to change) wait 30 sec replace the battery.

I have had that happen and I just live with it, the PC does not get used much it is a P1 so.....

443679 2006-04-04 05:56:00 Make sure the cable is plugged in to the mother board the right way round. If it's the wrong way round it will ground a lot of the control lines, which will turn motors on, cause activity lights to go on, but it won't work. ;) Graham L (2)
