444777 2006-04-07 09:27:00 Hi fellow PressF1 members.

I am about to build myself a new rig. This will include a AMD4800+ X2 CPU.
Probably a Asus A8N-E Motherboard and I want a PCI-E graphic card.

Thought about an SLI rig with two graphic cards.
Having read the latest PCWorld and the article starting page Page 42 I am a little confused.

Budget around $5000 - $6000 which is adjustable.
Money is not an issue here.

OK what I have sorted so far is:-

Asus A8N-E Motherboard
AMD4800+ X2 CPU
4 x 1Gig RAM
Thermaltake Kandalf case and 530 PSU
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Platinum
2 x 200 Gig SATA hard drives
19" Philips monitor with speakers. I already have a 5.1 speaker system which works but I would like basic sound from the monitor as I move my computer from place to place on a regular basis..

My main issue is what graphics card should I get and why? Which manufacturer should I be looking at? I have had no problem with my Winfast 5700 so far but I want to go to PCI-E rather than AGP. My AGP card is going with my computer to a deserving home.

444778 2006-04-07 09:58:00 It depends. If you don't want to spend heaps but really want power, just get a 7800 GTX and wait until they come down even more so you can run the in SLI. But in my PC I opted to get the best now and bought Quad NVIDIA Geforce 7900GTX Graphics while I was in the USA. (I can now play F.E.A.R. at 1600 x 1200 with 8x AA and still get frame rates of about 100 fps) It cost 1.5k but was well worth it. maverickoc (7240)

444781 2006-04-08 21:53:00 I've bought the X1900XTX. It wins over the Nvidia.

Make sure its the XTX not the XT.

(Now watch all the denials pop up, hehe)

That seems to be two votes for that card.
I have now read some reviews and like what I am seeing.
