444714 2006-04-07 07:15:00 There is only XP's default cd burning, you can use from within My computer.

However, XP doesnt support DVD burning natively. Never has. Never will.

You'll have to use Nero (doesnt have to be Premium version - Ultra version is just as good). Or some other program.

Nothing wrong with Nero 6. Does exactly the same thing as Nero 7. Nero 7 just looks a bit fancier with added extras.

444715 2006-04-07 07:33:00 I didn't realise Nero isn't sold at stores anymore. Do you know anyone that can download it for you? If you put your key into the demo version, it will be fully functional.

Most DVD writers come with a copy of Nero.

444716 2006-04-07 07:38:00 Well, I reformatted my PC last month, I went to install Nero last night and it came up with a warning box saying Nero did not come with the installed DVD Drive and refused to install from there.

This is total rubbish, so Im left with no way at present to backup my pics, music & files to DVD, CD being too small these days.

Thanks.....John.

444717 2006-04-07 07:40:00 And if u get Nero and Nerovision (they're separate downloads, for Nero 6), but not for v7, but this is bigger, the serial u enter in for Nero, also works for Nerovision.

However, the serial u do type in, doesnt unlock everything in Nerovision. Which is used for the DVD side of things.

Thanks . . . . . John .

It's because the version of Nero (if it came with the burner is an OEM version), BUT if u change the burner, it'll no longer work .

And thats the message you'll get (the one you posted) . You need another version of Nero (or another serial), for the retail / other version of Nero .

It depends on what serial you put in Nero, on whether its an OEM or retail serial . And whether it'll install or not .

444721 2006-04-07 21:44:00 Nero 5, the version I have, came with the PC as OEM. John W (523)
444722 2006-04-07 22:02:00 Nero 5, the version I have, came with the PC as OEM .

I would get the latest version . (either 6 or 7,) .

I wouldnt waste the time or money getting the Premium version of Nero 7 tho .

The Premium version is exactly the same as the Ultra version .

Only diff is, one is U . S, (Ultra), the other the Europe version (ie: Premium) .

BUT, I dont think Version 5 . xx serials work with V6, or 7 . xx of Nero .

And if you have changed your burner, since buying your system, this is the reason, why it wont install .

(Well Nero may install, but wont necessarily work / or detect your burner . So, you can use it) .
