444732 2006-04-07 03:38:00 Hi Team

I was idly looking at Xtra's "new" broadband deals and it suddenly struck me that there was no equivalent to my current full speed plan which is maximum possible download MBps and 512KB upload.

I pay over the odds for this so I'd be a bit annoyed if my service was reduced without my knowing. It is already a little slow at peak times so I'd hate to lose any more speed.

What concerned me was the apparent automatic shuffling of existing users onto the nearest equivalent under the new deal. If I've had a service reduction I'd like to make sure the price has dropped too.

Does anybody know how Xtra has handled this situation, or does status quo apply?

Cheers

444733 2006-04-07 03:54:00 If they shift you to a standard plan, you will pay whatever price they put on that plan rather than what you used to pay. What download speed & cap did you have? Greven (91)

What download speed & cap did you have?5 or 6 Mbps download, 512Mbps upload and a 1GB cap. It was always off the top of the scale on any speed meter. Just checked, download speed is 51061 kbps at present.

Don't laugh at the cap, even with 3 users we have still never gone over 1GB in any month since Jetstream started. We usually average 25-30MB per day.

444737 2006-04-07 06:42:00 Bluddy Ihug sent me a letter last week saying that they will cut down my "Unlimited" allowance to 20GB . and the price will stay 49 . 99 with Ihug tolls .
Although for 49 . 99 with ihug tolls i can get 2mbps & 10 GB data allowance .

Can ihug do this? . Can we say they have breached the contract .

All 3 of your users must be very very light users & you must turn every thing off when you have flinched using the internet

Last month we use around about 5 – 6 GB of our 10 GB cap, I think .

All 3 of your users must be very very light users & you must turn every thing off when you have finished using the internetI turn everything off at night including the router, but I do that to ensure that I start each day with a new IP address.

Downloading is not a big thing for us, but we do download the odd program etc plus the inevitable antivirus and OS updates and patches. We certainly don't download music very often though, and videos never. Life is too short to be glued to a flickering screen.

I was speaking metaphorically there Ciccy, about watching "flicks" on a computer.

I'm sure you are old enough to know what I mean, but not so old as to have forgotten. :D
