444388 2006-04-06 06:13:00 Check and see if the burner is running in PIO mode .

Device Manager / IDE / ATA /Atapi controllers / Primary/Secondary IDE channel (whatever IDE channel it's on) .

And the advanced settings tab . Does it say Ultra DMA Mode x, or PIO Mode here?

You are looking in the wrong place.
Right-click on my computer, select properties & go to the hardware tab. Click the device manager button.
Click on the + beside IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to expand it
right-click on primary IDE channel & select properties. Go to the advanced tab & make sure transfer mode is set to DMA.
Do the same for the secondary IDE channel

444392 2006-04-06 20:52:00 ok i think i have things rolling - i installed the ide divers off the motherboard disk and they became "nvidia nForce4 IDE Controller" so i did a driver rollback and the advanced tab and they are now set to DMA mode now - hope that works

cheers for all the help
