| 444455 | 2006-04-06 07:26:00 | I'm trying to make a sports certificate that LISTS the results of athletes . I can do this ok, for as many athletes as I like - ie . one certificate per athlete that shows just one event . What I can't do is list all the events of a single athlete - ie . one certificate per athlete that shows ALL his/her events . I'm using Word 2002 on XP . Would appreciate an answer from any Word guru[s] please . Cheers |

| 444457 | 2006-04-06 08:30:00 | My understanding is that each column of your source data represents each field for your mail merge. To get multiple certs you would need a column for each certificate so if someone won 3 you would need Cert1, Cert2 and Cert3 as your columns together with name and address and whatever else you needed. If the field is empty then nothing will be printed so will work equally well for someone with 3 certs versus 1. | Parry (5696) | ||

But, you say 'to get multiple certs . . . ' . Does this mean you think I need to give more than one certificate to each athlete? Because I don't, as each athlete needs to have all his events listed on the one certificate . If you didn't mean that, then I don't follow how what you said can work and would appreciate more advice if you have the time please . |

| 444461 | 2006-04-06 12:16:00 | Hi Yorkie. As Parry suggests, if you set up a small Word table database with, say, the following Field Labels..... Name Event1 Event2 Event3 Event4 etc. Then run your Mailmerge so that every certificate includes every field, the outcome certificate will only contain an entry for those data fields for which you have entered data. In crude form, this might be: Joe Bloggs Data from 1, 3, 4 Bill Smith Data from 2, 4, 5, 7 No data will appear for the empty fields. |
