445214 2006-04-09 09:53:00 hi,
I my broadband connection has been stuffed for over two months, when i say stuffed im talking about very very very slow im paying for 2Meg which should be 3.5 by now!, but its not its 256k (if im lucky) my latancy is also verry hight which means i cant even play on xboxlive with my new xbox360!!!!!,
I i find it hard to open two webpages at once, i cant go on to apple trailors and stream new movie trailors, i cant steam from google.videos as its too slow!
now i have called up telecom/xtra everyweek for 2months and they have not fixed it, they are "working on it" i have bought a new modem/router, moved it around the house, re-set it, everything, they even sent a tech around and said my connection was fine yet i still have these slow speeds,
i have tryed different computers as i my have been my pc but no
i have herd that there are problems with the Mt Eden exchange...?

and when i called up telecom on friday they told me to stop called and the would contact me soon!

so my questions are:
so what should i do other than move out of mt eden?
and is anyone else it this area geting this problem?
what does it say in my contract about this type of thing?
and who should i talk too, to speed up this issue?

445215 2006-04-09 10:14:00 I would keep calling every other day and insist that they fix it if it is their problem. If you are paying for a 2Mb connection and you are only getting a 256Kb connection then you have grounds to take them to court or the commerce commision for ripping you off.

You don't have the filter in the wrong place do you? This would cause a massive decrease in actual speed. Filter should be on the line to the phone and not to the modem/router.

445216 2006-04-09 10:26:00 ok thanx i will try that it is in a filter right now but i have tryed it when its not in a filter! but i will try that thanx

just removed the filter did not help:
Your line speed is approximately 223.1 Kbps or 27.3 K bytes/sec
( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )

445217 2006-04-09 10:32:00 I'm also living in Mt Eden, along Mt Eden Road near the Mt Eden Village and I'm having no problems whatsoever with my broadband. I'm on Orcon's 2M/128k Autosense plan. bonkiebonks (7249)

( Where kb = kilobits and kB = kiloBytes )Are you in an old house? The phone wiring might be ancient and Telecom only guarantee ADSL speed on two wire systems, not the old 3-wire types. Unplug everything else from the line including the filter then try it.

If that doesn't help, get Telecom to send a tech out but be prepared to pay if it is anything to do with the phone wiring or your computer. They accept responsibility only up to the point of connection to the house.

If it works OK with everything disconnected, plug in the filter and one phone and see what happens. Remember, it is the phone connection you filter, not the line to your adsl modem.

445220 2006-04-09 12:16:00 the techy did not check all the jack points, (i think as i was not there at the time i can not be sure what he checked), and i am on the 2wire system, i have had broadband fine for over 1 year with no problem! it just happed and i dont no why! im going to contune calling telecom, right now the only thing that i can see will fix it will be ADSL2+ ... well hopfully, i just wish they would hurry up there is so much stuff i want/need to do but cant as it is too slow! :groan: handya (3666)
